Western Radio Shows were a staple from 1932- 1952 when many of the top Radio Broadcasts were taken to the small screen. Several survived on both Radio and TV at the same time. Gunsmoke was one of those. After listening the the Radio version, we have decided here in the Sierra's, we like the Radio version better. Of course TV reception has never been much good here on the mountain.

Over the course of his career, he starred in many films widely considered classics and was nominated for five Oscars, winning one in competition and one life achievement. The Lone Ranger and his trusted Indian companion, Tonto, deal with very strange happenings on The Haunted Ranch. The Rangers nephew, Dan, tells this adventure to his classmate in a San Francisco school and longs for the Range.
The Gunsmoke radio shows are said by many to be the best old time radio there ever was. I am in this camp. Chances are good that you will be as well. Old time radio shows including Gunsmoke are in the public domain. If you are old enough to know Gunsmoke on TV, which ran side by side with the radio version for awhile, you'll find that the radio version eclipses the TV version.
